Unnaturally obsessed with every piece of jewelry from With Asian Stereotypes and coveting so many things that I can hardly contain myself. Their gothic inspired accessories - replete with inverted crosses, talons, skulls, etc - hearken to the 90s goth aesthetic and channel the witches of The Craft (also known as, my style icons).

Happy America day to you all! I hope your day is as filled with beer, BBQ and Bruce Willis movies as mine is about to be!

Went vintage shopping yesterday on a whim and found this spectacular vintage leather bucket bag at Laced with Romance on South 1st. I’ve been looking for one of these for ages, but all the ones I found (specifically on Santoki) are upwards of $100 and that just seems like too exorbitant a price for a bag previously used by another person. On my way into the store a crusty old cowboy smoking a cigarette complimented me on my cow print cowboy boots and I felt totally legit. Then I spilled kombucha on my shorts and felt like my clumsy, awkward self again.
On Saturday I went swimming at McKinney Falls State Park with Alexis and Leslie. It’s so beautiful out there but the lack of rain has left the swimming holes extremely shallow and filled with warm water so swimming offered little relief from the staggering heat outside. After a few hours we cut our losses and headed over to Tanglewood where the pool water was clean and cold, and some 26 yr old tried to sell us weed while taking care of his 2 yr old son and drinking beer. It was weird. It was Austin.
I haven’t washed my hair since swimming and I’m pretty into this messy, unkempt thing it’s doing. Halfway between curly and dreadlocks, I now have this crazy bird’s nest matted on my head and I’m enjoying seeing how totally wild I can make it look.

Well, hello there! Remember me? I’m the girl who used to write in this thing occasionally. I’ve been away from the internets living out there in the world with these things called “people.” We talk to one another and do stuff! It’s wild!
I have been trying to get as much friend-time as possible packed into each and every day so this little guy has been neglected during my social renaissance. I have been busying myself with movies at the Paramount, Schlitterbahn with some crazy girls, non-stop yoga, and the Ultimate Birthday Extravagantico that is June. Every year I forget that June is the month of birthdays, I swear every person I’ve ever met was born in June! Yesterday we went to the San Jose Hotel for Jesse’s bday, today is Abigail’s bday (kiddie pool, anyone?!), Sunday is Ben’s birthday, and Monday is Chris Camp’s birthday. Phew! I’m exhausted just typing all that out!
As for blogging? Lately I’ve been feeling so uninspired when I stand in front of my closet, perusing my clothes. I tried to reorganize everything (by item instead of by color as it was previously) but to no avail, everything seems unappealing. I think a large part of this has to do with the weather lately. It’s getting to that point in the year when it’s just too damn hot to wear anything but the shortest of booty shorts and a very thin tank top and even that will render you absolutely drenched in sweat. It’s hard to pick a cute outfit when you know you’re just going to perspire your way through the day anyway. Seriously, who decided it would be a good idea to set up camp in a humid, boggy mess where it’s frequently 100+ degrees during the summer months?!

To that end, it’s been a non-stop rotation of obscenely short skirt, tube tops, denim microshorts and flips flops. Oh, and my bathing suit. Yesterday I switched out a short skirt for a longer one in the name of decency:
