Happy America Day!
Two perfect outfits for today’s poolside barbecues & fireworks displays! I hope everyone has gorged themselves on hot dogs, cheap beer, guacamole and any red/white/blue themed foods you could get your hands on!
My jewelry style has remained the same for a very long time - Native American rings, long, layered necklaces, and one statement earring. I don’t often take risks with jewelry because I’ve found a look that works for me and that I know how to style, but this summer’s jewelry trends are lovely and have me inkling to experiment and try something new. In keeping with this summer’s most blogged about trends, here are some of my favorite rings!
Rose Gold
Fresh and feminine, rose gold steps in to replace gunmetal as this season’s favorite metal. This pinkish metal has a lighter hue than yellow gold but is less harsh than copper or brass and looks warm and inviting on most skin tones.

ASOS Statement Metal Skull Ring, $22.16
Gorjana Stackable Rings, $84
Noir Jewelry Stack Pyramids, $60
(I also love this Michael Kors rose gold watch and if you’re looking to splurge, check out this Jil Sander ring on Luisa Via Roma)
Natural Embellishments

Long Wooden Ring, Erin Wasson x Low Luv, $84
Natural Shell Ring, Jen’s Pirate Booty, $30
Geometric Ring, $24
Armor & Weaponry
Armor rings have been on-trend for some time now and have been spotted on everyone from Kate Moss to Mary Kate Olsen. These rings are aggressive and powerful, mixing medieval suits-of-armor metal scales with hammered metal, talons, chains, and other embellishments.

Double Cut Out Ring, $90
Leviticus Talon Ring, £70
Adia Kibur Armor Ring, $48
(Check out Bijules NYC for more, including armor-inspired nail sheaths!)
Southwestern & Eastern Inspirations

Nepal Turquoise Ring, $48
Thunderbird Ring, Erin Wasson x Low Luv, $58
Bedia Ring, $108

Victorian Top Hat, $69

Anyone who knows me knows of my deep and true love for all things Fleetwood Mac - the music, the style, Lindsey’s beard, etc. I am unapologetically obsessed with Mystery to Me even though it was not one of their top performing albums, and I will pontificate at length to anyone willing to listen about all the ways in which Christine McVie is better than Stevie Nicks. It should come as no surprise then that I have long admired the individual styles of the Fleetwood Mac band members (this is one area in which Nicks truly outshone McVie).
I love Mick Fleetwood’s crazy hats and how they match his crazy eyes. John McVie’s aviator glasses and 70s hair. Stevie’s quintessential gypsy style. Christine’s sweet prairie-girl aesthetic. And Lindsy’s beard (and hair). Since we all want to look like 70s hippie rock stars, here are a few inspired pieces to help you cultivate your own Fleetwood Mac style!

Mick’s Look:
Wool Felt Fedora, $55
Vest, $92
Grandad Style Shirt, $72

Christine’s Look:
70s Off-the-Shoulder Gypsy Top, $55.40
Bordello Whimsey Black Velvet Boots, $81.45
Floral Peasant Top, $44.99

John’s Look:
Aviator Sunglasses, $12
Beret, $55
Basebell Tee, Ebay
Interactive is the fastest growing branch of SXSW. Each year attendance jumps up another 40% as more and more start up companies, freelancers, and other techy types travel to the Violet Crown to check out panels, slurp free drinks, and tour the taco trailers.
Interactive has become my favorite part of SXSW in the past year or so — companies like Mashable, Google, Groupon, TechCrunch, Adobe, GigaOm and more throw awesome parties with free food and drinks, and the occasional giveaway or product launch. Most of the SXSWi panels also take place in the Austin Convention Center which means you can get away with wearing heels since walking will be limited to 1 building.
Since Austin is a pretty relaxed, laid back city, there’s no need to show up to the Adobe brunch with a business suit on, but you do want to make sure you exude professionalism. Pair office-ready structure with summery colors for the perfect SXSi ensemble.
