P.S. A Paramount / Stateside Affair

On Thursday evening, I joined Austin bloggers and film aficionados at the Paramount and State Theaters downtown for a party celebrating the renovation/reopening of The State theater and The Paramount’s new Summer Series.

Hosted by Tolly and organized by Nick, the event took place in both historic theaters, allowing attendees to explore the gorgeous renovation and redesign that took place in The State theater, and to appreciate the stunning Paramount when it’s not packed with hundreds of film-hungry Austinites.

With free popcorn, complimentary beverages, a slew of knowledgeable staff on hand to tell stories about the theater’s history, and amazing giveaways, the party was definitely one of the most fun events I’ve been to in a while!

Thanks Nick and Gina for the invite!

Houdini Hole! One of the ladies who worked at the Paramount (Evelyn?) told us that Houdini made that hole in the ceiling for one of his tricks (illusions?) during a performance at the Paramount. It’s still there to this day!

So much about the Paramount makes me feel like I’m living in a David Lynch film.

Ghost Light! This light sits quietly at the center of the stage and eerily illuminates the front of the theater at night for the ghosts. Apparently spirits are also afraid of the dark!
