What to Wear: NYE

I know it’s crazy early to be thinking about NYE, but if you’re like me you leave everything to the last minute and find yourself scouring empty racks on December 28th for a fantastic new year’s outfit only to discover that everything is gone and the only remaining items are gaudy, child-sized or triple XL. I have a habit of doing this ever year - on Halloween, Christmas, New Years - whenever there is an upcoming “event” or big To Do I postpone and postpone (Procrastination 4 Eva) until I suddenly find myself hurtling towards new years with no clothes, no plans and no champagne.

This year, I vow to be different. I have already loosely begun to look for a New Year’s dress (leaving the planning for further down the line - I figure the outfit is the hardest part anyway) and wanted to share a few faves in case you too are in the market for a holiday cocktail dress since this is The Season for Partying.

NOTE: In Brazil, New Year’s occurs during the height of summer (southern hemisphere, opposite seasons and whatnot) so it is tradition to wear white on New Year’s Eve. This is considered good luck. Hence, you will see plenty of white/cream/ivory dresses. However, since I live in the U.S where it will be winter, I have also included a slew of black dresses. Black and white - the only colors I rock on NYE.
