Seems Like Old Times
Last night was our (sort of) 2 year anniversary! Hooray for selecting arbitrary dates and then eating fancy food!
Eric had made a reservation at Annie’s downtown, a restaurant I kept hearing good things about but had yet to experience. The place is really lovely - huge ceiling, exposed brick, art nouveau-esque scooped bar.
Also, the truffle french fries with aioli are delicious!

Eric ate a 12oz strip steak (just saying that makes me want to throw up a bit). I opted for red snapper because I hate steak and because, having just seen a particularly upsetting episode of The X-files, I was in no shape to eat chicken.
After dinner we went to Clive, a bar that has been recommended to me numerous times but is out of the way from my usual repertoire of bars so I rarely have cause to visit. Last night rectified all that, however, and I’m thrilled that it did because I love this bar! Very delicious French 75s (Eric had a black Russian!). The little neighborhood where Clive is located used to be mainly run-down houses when I moved to Austin 7 years ago, but now every time I go there’s a new bar or restaurant to explore! First it was Lustre Pearl, now there’s Clive, G’raj Mahal and last night I saw a new one - Icenhauer?
It looks like I’m going to need to start scheduling nights to try out new bars and restaurants. Well I’ve already knocked Clive and Tigress off my list in one week so I’m doing pretty well, I suppose.
After dinner at Annie’s and drinks at Clive, Eric and I were pretty sleepy (food coma) so we came home and watched Stella in our pjs like a bunch of old people. We fail at romantic stuff. Oh well, it was a perfect night anyway.
