Swimming!
Yesterday afternoong I went swimming with Naomi, Tasia and Kenny so I threw on something relaxed, summery and Texan to go to the pool. The shirt I found in the men’s section of Buffalo Exchange when I was there on Tuesday with Kate. It’s Land’s End and originally would’ve retailed for about $30, but I found this one in perfect condition for $10.50! I love big, oversized men’s shirts. I tried the feminized versions at XXI or Urban, but didn’t like how snugly they fit. The entire reason girl’s steal their friend’s/boyfriend’s/brother’s shirts is because they’re sexy in a boyish, baggy way. You roll up the sleeves, tie the bottom and suddenly it’s fresh and sexy.
I started loving men’s shirts after watching a particular episode of Sex and the City in which Carrie wears Big’s gigantic white shirt as a dress with a chunky belt. I borrowed a red, button down shirt from my friend John who is about 6’4” and wore it as a dress with a black leather bustier over it. Maybe I’ll recreate the ensemble for a photo. Anyway, I now have about 7 men’s shirts in my closet. They’re amazingly versatile. As shirts, dresses, coverups over other dresses, tied up as mini shirts etc etc. Endless variations!
