Small Town Life

For labor day, my family and I road-tripped over to the tiny, adorable town of Fredricksburg, Texas to go antiquing and visit some wineries.

Fredricksburg is about an hour, to an hour and a half, outside of Austin in the middle of Texas hill country and is home to some of Texas’ finest vineyards, three of which we visited. Since I dislike wine I played the role of photographer:

We stayed at the most amazing bed and breakfast called the Hoffman Haus which had this sort of rustic, farmhouse, rural aesthetic - lots of exposed brick and wood, tall ceilings, wooden beams - absolutely beautiful.

I am in love with the hotel! Each room has its own unique identity and corresponding charming name, such as the “Calico Cottage.” My sister and I stayed in a dark wood room with huge cathedral ceilings while my parents stayed in the aforementioned cottage that had a very pastoral aesthetic with farmhouse accents and a little porch!

We mostly stayed in the town center and did the cliche tourist activities since it was my parents’ first time to visit Fredricksburg. We walked around Main St visiting antique stores and little boutiques. Since Fredricksburg has no open container law, we bought beers and traipsed around town happily chugging our libations!

Then we went to the fancy Cotton Gin restaurant for dinner - spicy crab cakes! goat cheese and tomato salad! stuffed trout! Delicious!
